A specialty case for a 6-inch Maksutov telescope — the catadioptric optical design that combines a curved corrector plate with a primary mirror in a compact tube. The corrector plate and mirror alignment are delicate enough that even small impact can require recollimation, so a proper transport case is essential.
The CNC-cut foam interior cradles the 6-inch Maksutov tube along its full length with dedicated support at the front corrector plate, the optical tube body, and the rear focus mount. Foam thickness is built up at impact-prone points (corners, edges) to protect the optical alignment.
Shell is ATA 300 Category 1 with recessed ball-corner latches, pressure-equalization valve (essential to prevent corrector-plate stress from cabin pressure changes), and a soft-grip carry handle. Closed-cell polyethylene foam CNC-cut to the specific tube dimensions of your Maksutov.
