A Pelican 1646 shell custom-foamed for the ARRI Gear Head One with its crank handles. The CNC-cut foam interior cradles the gear head body in a contoured cradle that supports the cast iron across multiple contact points, with separate fitted wells for the three crank handles, baseplate, and tie-down hardware.
Gear heads are heavy and the geared mechanism doesn't tolerate impact through the case wall. The 1646's footprint with wheels makes the case manageable solo despite the weight.
