The Sony PXW-FX9 — the full-frame 6K documentary and ENG workhorse in the $11,000 class — rides in this custom Pelican Air 1637 with CNC-cut foam profiled to the body, so a build worth many times the case travels protected. The foam holds the FX9 in its operating configuration: body, viewfinder, top handle and rosette accessories, V-mount or Gold-mount batteries, XQD / CFexpress media, and the cables the kit travels with.
The FX9 is a run-hard camera that lives on documentary, corporate, and ENG jobs, so it travels constantly. Each item gets its own well, so an open-case glance confirms the package is complete before load-in — count-at-a-glance check-in and check-out for shooters and rental desks. The Air 1637 shell is crushproof, watertight, and light enough to fly built-up.
An ATA-rated case is also what makes a freight claim winnable — carriers deny damage claims on self-packed electronics. Built to order and foamed in North Hollywood by Innerspace Cases; cut to your exact FX9 configuration — body-only, or fully built with the extension unit, matte box, and top handle aboard.

Fit & shipping FAQ
What FX9 configuration does the foam fit?
As built, the FX9 in operating configuration — body, viewfinder, top handle and rosette accessories, V-mount or Gold-mount batteries, XQD/CFexpress media, and cables. We cut to your exact build; tell us how it travels.
Can the foam be cut for my exact FX9 build?
Yes — every case is built to order, so the wells follow your rig. Add space for a matte box, a wireless video transmitter, a cage, extra batteries or media, or a fully-built profile, and we CNC-cut the foam to match. Tell us your loadout on the quote.
Is the body and mount protected in transit?
The body seats in a contoured foam cradle with the lens mount recessed so the flange isn't loaded, connectors framed clear, and the camera held below the lid line — inside an ATA-rated shell built for road and air freight.
Can it check as airline baggage?
The Pelican Air 1637 sits around the typical 62-inch checked-bag limit. It's rated for checked air travel, courier, and freight — most crews fly it as checked baggage or move it as freight, and the case is built for the handling either way.
What's the lead time, and can you rush it?
Every case is built to order and ships in about 14–21 business days. Rush production is available as a premium by quote when a deadline is tight — tell us your date and we'll price it.
