The Cooke Super Cine Varotal 25-250 is a large, heavy cinema zoom in the $40,000+ class — one lens that has to survive the road intact. This made-to-order ATA case is a rounding error on the zoom it protects: custom-routed foam cradles the optical block, focus and iris gears, and PL or EF mount so the long barrel never flexes or bears load in transit.
A zoom this size is a rental-house asset that moves between jobs constantly, and a cracked element or a tweaked mount takes it out of service. The single fitted cavity holds the Varotal in one contoured well with the lens supported along its length, so it rides shock-free over road and air freight — and a glance at the open case confirms the lens and its caps are aboard before load-in.
An ATA-grade case is also what makes a freight claim winnable on a five-figure lens — carriers deny damage claims on self-packed optics. Riveted aluminum extrusion, recessed latches, and a sealed lid give the case its ATA-300 Category I rating. Fit & shipping FAQ
Does the case hold the Varotal with accessories?
As built, the cavity is contoured to the Super Cine Varotal 25-250 barrel and mount. Built to order, so we can add wells for a support foot, gears, or caps that travel with the lens — tell us what ships with it.
Is the long barrel supported so it can't flex?
Yes — the lens is cradled along its full length in contoured foam with the mount and gears isolated, so nothing bears point load or flexes over road and air freight.
Can the foam be cut for a different Cooke zoom?
We build cases for the Cooke zoom range — tell us the exact model and we cut the cavity to it, or add it alongside a prime set.
Can it check as airline baggage?
It's built to ATA 300 Category I for checked air travel and freight. A full prime set is heavy, so most rental houses move it as oversized checked baggage or freight — the case is rated for the handling either way.
What's the lead time, and can you rush it?
Every case is built to order and ships in about 14–21 business days. Rush production is available as a premium by quote when a deadline is tight — tell us your date and we'll price it.
Adding a matching prime-set case or a rental inventory? We build these as standardized, re-orderable cases with optional engraved IDs. Request a quote or contact the shop at 818-767-3030.
