RED KOMODO 6K & KOMODO-X Cases

Equipment Protection Guide

RED KOMODO & KOMODO-X — Cases & Transport Protection

The KOMODO's whole point is going where bigger cameras can't — crash rigs, gimbals, tight cars. Cameras that live in risky places earn their cases fastest.

  • RF mount
  • ≈1 kg body
  • KOMODO & X layouts

About this equipment

The RED KOMODO is a compact 6K cinema camera with a global-shutter sensor and RF mount, built for crash cams, gimbals, and B/C-camera duty; the KOMODO-X extends the platform with a faster sensor and more I/O. Both share the boxy, dense form factor that makes them easy to rig and easy to drop.

Because a KOMODO rarely works alone, our builds are kit layouts: body plus lens, media, batteries, and rigging in one case. Cavities are cut per model — the X's fan and connector layout differ from the original — so specify which body you run.

Transport knowledge

Kit case beats body case

A KOMODO deploys with a lens, media, batteries, and mounting hardware. The catalog builds carry the working kit — the camera comes out of the case shootable, which is the point of a small camera.

KOMODO vs KOMODO-X foam

Same family, different bodies: the X is slightly larger with different venting and connectors. Foam cut for one is loose or tight on the other — order for the body you own.

Micro-batteries and airlines

The small-format batteries KOMODO kits run stay in your cabin bag per lithium rules. Our layouts keep battery cavities accessible at the top of the foam for exactly that reason.

Frequently asked questions

Will a KOMODO case fit my KOMODO-X?

Not properly — the bodies differ. We cut per model; the catalog lists builds for both, and a quoted build can cover your exact rig.

Can the case carry the camera rigged with a cage?

Yes, as a quoted configuration — tell us the cage and top hardware and we cut the cavity for the built silhouette.

How long does an in-catalog KOMODO case take?

Made to order, typically shipping in 7–10 business days. Custom rigged layouts are quoted per project.
