SmallHD Cine 18 — Cases & Transport Protection

The Cine 18 is the classic video-village and DIT monitor: big, bright, and shipped constantly. It is also exactly the size class where soft cases stop working.

  • 18-inch 4K high-bright
  • Video village standard
  • 3 dedicated builds
  • AKS space available

About this equipment

The SmallHD Cine 18 is an 18-inch, 4K high-bright production monitor found at video village, DIT stations, and gaffer carts on working sets. At this panel size the monitor stops being hand luggage — it moves on carts and in trucks, alongside stands, yokes, shades, and power.

An 18-inch panel concentrates a lot of replacement cost in a thin sheet of glass. Every build below is a hard ATA-grade shell with CNC-cut foam holding the monitor face-inward, and most include an accessory bay so the whole station travels as one piece.

Transport knowledge

Why soft cases fail at 18 inches

Padded sleeves protect against scratches, not against the twist and point loads a truck ride delivers to a large panel. High-bright panels are heavy for their area, which makes corner drops in soft cases especially lethal.

Ship it, don't gate-check it

An 18-inch monitor case exceeds airline carry-on allowances. Fly it as checked freight in an ATA case or ship it ahead; insure to replacement value, since carrier default liability will not cover the panel.

The accessory bay earns its space

Our Cine 18 layouts with AKS compartments carry the shade, yoke, power, and cabling. One case to the village, one case back — nothing loose in a bin.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fly with a Cine 18?

As checked baggage or freight in a hard ATA case, yes — not as carry-on. The builds here are designed for exactly that trip.

Is there room for the sun shade and yoke?

The catalog builds include accessory space; if your kit needs more, we adjust the layout on a quoted build.

How long does an in-catalog Cine 18 case take?

Made to order, typically shipping in 7–10 business days. New layouts are quoted per project.
