SmallHD OLED 27 — Cases & Transport Protection
A 27-inch True Black OLED reference panel is the most fragile thing on the cart — and the most expensive to be wrong about. Here is how the OLED 27 travels, starting with a wheeled Pelican 1630 build we already cut foam for.

About this equipment
The SmallHD OLED 27 is a 27-inch 4K HDR reference monitor built around a self-emissive OLED panel — true blacks, reference color, the display DITs and colorists reach for when the image has to be judged, not just framed. It extends the OLED line that started with the OLED 22, part of the monitor system that earned SmallHD an Engineering Emmy for its ubiquity across production.
OLED panels add a transport wrinkle LCDs don't have: the emissive surface itself is the component, and face pressure or a corner shock can kill rows of pixels with no visible crack. The OLED 27 build below puts the monitor face-down to clean foam inside a wheeled Pelican 1630 — a case you roll, not carry, because a cased 27-inch reference monitor is a two-hand load.
Choose protection by workflow
Occasional moves, vehicle transport: foam inserts and padded protection in a case you own.
Travel and carry-on workflows: compact hard-shell builds sized to airline limits.
Constant shipping: ATA shells, modular replaceable foam, fleet-matched layouts.
Purpose-built around your exact package and workflow.

Transport knowledge
Face pressure and corner impacts — on OLED, damage can be dead emitter rows rather than visible glass cracks, which makes soft-padding failures expensive and slow to discover. A rigid shell with a face-to-foam cavity is the fix.
A 27-inch monitor in a proper shell is a wheeled load. The Pelican 1630 build keeps the panel upright-safe, rolls through docks and elevators, and stacks flat in the truck without anything bearing on the glass.
OLED 27s move between stage, DIT cart, and grading suite — short hops that tempt crews to skip the case. Most panel damage we see happens on exactly those moves, not on the truck.

Frequently asked questions
The catalog build carries the monitor; if your position includes power, cabling, or mounting hardware, request a quote and we extend the layout — the foam is engineered around your exact kit, not a generic pocket.
The family builds shown below are cut for the OLED 22's dimensions and won't fit a 27 safely. We cut the 27 its own cavity — same shells, correct foam.
Builds shown here are made to order and typically ship in 7–10 business days. New layouts are quoted per project.
