When ambient noise destroys single-ear comms — VFX base, a racetrack, a live-broadcast pit — crews reach for the Riedel MAX-D2 double-ear high-noise headset. This built-to-order ATA case transports them without crushing the ear cushions or bending the mic boom: CNC-cut foam wells contoured to the cushion shape of both ear cups, mic-boom protection along the side, and a coiled-cable tray underneath. Multiple headsets stack in the same shell on hard foam separators.

High-noise headsets are a consumable that crews hate to re-buy: a flattened cushion or a tweaked boom takes a unit out of service. Fitted foam keeps the cushions in shape and the boom from flexing against a wall, and the stackable layout lets a comms department move a crew’s worth of headsets in one case with an at-a-glance count — no guessing whether all of them made it back from the last show. It’s the headset case that rounds out a Bolero comms package alongside the beltpack and kit cases.

The shell is injection-molded with recessed twist latches, sized to the headset count the production travels with and foamed so the boom mics never load against the walls. Built in North Hollywood by Innerspace Cases. As with the rest of the kit, an ATA-grade case is what makes a freight claim winnable if a shipment is mishandled. Tell us your headset count — or add beltpack and battery pockets — and we cut the foam to a multi-headset crew case.

Fit & shipping FAQ

How many headsets does it hold?

The case is sized to the headset count your production travels with — MAX-D2 units stack on hard foam separators, so a two-up, four-up, or full-crew case is just a different foam cut. Tell us the count on your quote and we build the shell and foam to it.

Will it protect the ear cushions and mic boom?

Yes — that’s the whole design. Each ear cup seats in a contoured well so the cushions keep their shape, the mic boom has its own protected channel so it can’t flex against a wall, and a coiled-cable tray underneath keeps the leads from tangling or tugging the boom.

Can you add beltpack or battery pockets?

We can. The same shell can carry belt-pack and battery pockets alongside the headsets for a combined crew case — tell us what else travels with the headsets and we lay out the foam accordingly.

Can it check as airline baggage or ship by courier?

It’s built to IP67 watertight injection-molded shell for checked air travel, courier, and freight, so it’s rated for the handling whether it flies with the crew or ships ahead to the venue.

What’s the lead time, and can you rush it?

Every case is built to order and ships in about 14–21 business days. Rush production is available as a premium by quote when a deadline is tight — tell us your air date and we’ll price it.

Do you build these for a full fleet or multiple kits?

Yes — that’s our specialty. Bolero deployments run from a handful of headsets to fleets of a hundred across broadcast trucks, stadiums, rental inventory, and houses of worship. We build matching, re-orderable cases with optional engraved IDs and price multi-case runs by quote. Send your loadout and unit count and we’ll spec the run.

Equipping a full crew or a rental pool with high-noise headsets? We build Bolero comms cases as standardized, re-orderable fleets with optional engraved IDs. Request a fleet quote or contact the shop at 818-767-3030.

A comms department rarely ships just one case — the communications case that carries MAX & lightweight headsets together · the complete Bolero intercom kit case · the laptop & tech-station case.

Will this fit my setup?

Tell us what you’re protecting and everything that travels with it. We check it against this build’s foam layout and reply with either a confirmation or the change we’d make. No obligation, and it goes to the people who cut the foam.

We reply with a real answer, usually same business day.

My setup is different

Different body, extra accessories, an accessory that has to stay mounted, or dimensions that don’t exist yet. We modify an existing design or engineer a new one.

I need several

Repeatable foam layouts, consistent hardware, replacement foam and reorders against the same drawing. Standard practice for rental houses and studio fleets.
