A MacBook Pro (14-inch) is the DIT’s and colorist’s travel machine, and it usually flies in a sleeve inside a backpack next to the drives it is supposed to protect. This is the travel case: a Pelican 1485 Air shell with CNC-cut foam that seats the laptop closed in its own well, with separate wells for the power adapter, the MagSafe and Thunderbolt cables, and a couple of portable SSDs. Watertight, crush-proof, carry-on sized, and the drives never ride against the lid.
Foam is cut to the MacBook Pro (14-inch) chassis — current Apple silicon models share the enclosure, so the well fits the machine you have and the one you replace it with. Tell us on the quote if you carry a specific dock, card reader, or LUT box and we cut a pocket for it. Laptop and drives not included. Will it fit the other MacBook Pro size?
No — the well is cut to the 14-inch chassis. We build the 16-inch as its own record: MacBook Pro (16-inch) travel case.
Does it carry on?
Yes. The Pelican 1485 Air is inside standard carry-on dimensions and the case is built to be checked if it has to be.
