A Mac Studio is $2,000 to $6,000-plus of finished aluminum and silicon in a chassis the size of a lunchbox — easy to under-pack and easy to damage. This is a Pelican Air 1557 shell fitted with our CNC-cut foam to move one safely without the weight penalty of a heavier road case.

The foam cradles the Mac Studio in a contoured pocket, vents shielded and ports reachable, with separate wells for the power cable, Thunderbolt cabling, adapters, and external drives. The Air 1557 is roughly 40% lighter than the equivalent Protector shell and keeps the same IP67 watertight, crushproof protection — a favorite for traveling DIT and color setups.

It isn’t only a set tool. DIT carts, color suites, post houses, and offices moving a Mac Studio between bays or locations reach for the Air version when every pound counts — on a plane, on a cart, on a run across town.

Fit & shipping FAQ

What fits inside?

The Mac Studio seats in a contoured foam well with separate pockets for the power cable, Thunderbolt cabling, adapters, and external drives. Add any dock or drive stack to your quote and we cut a pocket for it.

Why the Air 1557 over the Storm shell?

The Air 1557 is roughly 40% lighter for the same IP67 watertight, crushproof protection — the pick when you’re carrying the case yourself or flying often. Want the tougher Storm iM2200 instead? We build that too.

Can I fly with it?

Yes — the Air 1557 is a common travel choice; confirm dimensions against your airline’s carry-on or checked limit. The shell is rated for the handling either way.

What’s the lead time, and can you rush it?

Every case is built to order and ships in about 14–21 business days. Rush production is available as a premium by quote when a deadline is tight — tell us your date and we’ll price it.

Do you build these for multiple machines or a fleet?

Yes. Outfitting several edit bays, a rental inventory, or a multi-office rollout is our specialty — standardized, re-orderable builds with optional engraved IDs. Request a fleet quote and we’ll spec the run.

Outfitting several bays, a rental inventory, or a multi-office rollout? We build these as standardized, re-orderable fleets with optional engraved IDs. Request a fleet quote or contact the shop.

Will this fit my setup?

Tell us what you’re protecting and everything that travels with it. We check it against this build’s foam layout and reply with either a confirmation or the change we’d make. No obligation, and it goes to the people who cut the foam.

We reply with a real answer, usually same business day.

My setup is different

Different body, extra accessories, an accessory that has to stay mounted, or dimensions that don’t exist yet. We modify an existing design or engineer a new one.

I need several

Repeatable foam layouts, consistent hardware, replacement foam and reorders against the same drawing. Standard practice for rental houses and studio fleets.
